Frequently Asked Questions & Answers
Here are some common questions our patients ask about visiting our office
-
What do I need to bring to my first appointment?
Be sure to bring your current insurance plan details and medical history with you to your first appointment.
-
In what kind of situation would I need X-rays?
X-rays, also known as radiographs, help our dentists in detecting issues that are not visible during a mirror examination of your mouth. They are crucial for getting a good idea of what is happening beneath the gum tissue and between teeth.
By using X-rays, we can observe whether teeth are present or absent (including emerging teeth, missing permanent teeth, the position of wisdom teeth, and impacted teeth), detect cavities in their early stages, and assess the bone level (which often deteriorates after teeth are extracted or during advanced gum disease).
Abscesses, cysts and calcified arteries (which can lead to a stroke) can also be seen with radiographs.
-
How early should I arrive for my appointment?
We ask that you please arrive 10 to 15 minutes ahead of your appointment so you have enough time to fill out our New Patient Form before your appointment begins.
-
What hours are you open throughout the week?
Our dental clinic is open during the following hours:
- Monday:08:00 am - 04:15 pm
- Tuesday:08:00 am - 04:15 pm

-
Are you taking on new patients?
Yes! We are excited to welcome new patients and their families to our dental clinic. Please contact us to request an appointment.
-
Do you accept dental insurance? And how does it work?
Yes. If you have dental insurance, we will handle all the paperwork so you can be reimbursed for all the benefits to which you are entitled.
We can submit paperwork electronically to your insurance company on your behalf. We also send all treatment plans for pre-authorization to determine what your specific plan will cover.
-
How often should I get my teeth cleaned?
Our suggestions for preventive care will vary depending on your home practices, oral condition, cavity risk, and health habits.
Patients with existing issues like gum disease, untreated cavities, recurring cavities, and root exposure should visit us more frequently than those with healthy mouths and minimal restorations.
To reduce the risk of further damage, 'at-risk' patients are advised to visit the dentist every three to four months.
For patients with healthy smiles, we recommend visiting the dentist every six months.
-
What if my insurance only covers cleaning every nine months?
Insurance policies differ in coverage. The '9-month rule' relates to how frequently you can receive a recall exam, polishing, and fluoride treatment. This does not imply that you cannot get your teeth cleaned.
Cleaning refers to 'scraping', or scaling/root planing. This involves removing deposits and stains from your teeth to help prevent irritation of your gum tissues.
